in lust: burberry prorsum a/w13

I have been swooning over the Burberry Prorsum A/W13 collection ever since it debuted a few days ago. This may be due to my undying love of Burberry. Or for the sole fact that if I were a man, this would be my dream wardrobe. I realize most men are a bit leery of animal print, especially in such large quantities. However I adore the over-sized, 40s styled coats; they're loud and classic all at once. The military jackets were quite nice, as well as the touches of animal print which appeared on everything- satchels, shoes, sunglasses, collars and coat linings. Perhaps the real reason I love this collection so much is because I would gladly steal any one of these effortlessly cool pieces from my boyfriend (who does not exist, but that is beside the point).

side note: I've yet to find the appropriate words for the JW Anderson show. Androgynous doesn't even begin to explain it.

the age old debate: blonde vs brunette

Unlike Cat, whose hair has been about 12 different colors in the past year, and my  friend Heather, whose hair has been every color of the rainbow (literally) my hair has only ever been one color: blonde.

In fact, I had virgin hair until the age of 18. I had always debated dying it, I wanted platinum blonde hair like I had when I was little. Unfortunately after my first haircut, I slowly darkened to a dirty blonde, with natural highlights. But one night (filled with bad decisions) Heather begged me to let her dye my hair, so we bought a box dye (Cat's probably cringing as she reads this) and sat in the bathroom for 30 minutes.

This is not a love story. My hair did not rival Rapunzel's, it did not take me back to my youth.

It turned yellow.

(And this is why, no matter how much you love your friends, you do not let them dye your hair.) After a quick fix at my salon the next morning, I was on my way to the blonde I wanted. I'm a light blonde now with golden tones and I love it, I really do. However, I recently had the bright idea to become a brunette.

Why? Because I had a dream that I looked like Barbara Palvin and life was perfect.

So now I'm waiting for my roots to come in so I can make the decision to go darker. Do I think I can pull it off? No. Am I going to do it anyway? In all likelihood, yes.

And thus begins the evolution of hair.

happy (belated) new year!

Because we had no New Years Eve plans, Cat and I decided to be completely rational and go to a house party take the train to New York City. Apparently we've become quite good at making spontaneous decisions (wait until we start blogging about London).

This gave me the perfect opportunity to debut the vintage silver fox fur (or wolf hair, as a NYPD officer so kindly suggested) my mom bought me for Christmas! Cat and I spent the entire day on 5th avenue, lusting over the menswear collection in Burberry and the furs in Miu Miu. We also got a cheeky sneak peak of the new Saint Laurent Paris ready-to-wear collection, which has a fresh, young vibe to it, as we simultaneously swooned over their male employees (YSL you have fabulous taste). We then paid tribute to Holly Golightly and took a spin through Tiffany's before heading down to Times Square. It was very cold, very crowded and one Starbucks each wasn't cutting it- it was absolute madness! Next year will most definitely consist of sipping champagne from a hotel room overlooking the festivities. Here's to a cheeky new year!

Any New Years Resolutions? (I'm fairly certain I've broken all of mine already)
